Heavenly Organics Skin Care Review

Heavenly organics products
I came across Heavenly Organics through Twitter while participating in #organichour chat and since I needed a few beauty products I thought I would check their website and see whether they have something suitable for my needs. When it comes to natural skin care I normally use bigger brands, but I am always open to trying smaller brands as I am quite positive that you could find some gems out there if you do try. After checking their website I decided to purchase one of their ‘variety packs’ – Citrus Zest which gave me 15% discount (it was cheaper than buying those items individually). Although I didn’t need all the items from the pack I decided to treat myself as I haven’t done so for a while. I’ve been now using these products for quite a few months and it’s about time to review them!

About Heavenly Organics

The first thing I noticed about Heavenly Organics was that it was a 100% natural brand which was a reason why I really wanted to give them a try. I haven’t come across that many brands which claim to have 100% natural products, so I was quite excited about Heavenly Organics. What is more, the ingredients are also organic and vegan and the products are all hand made! The owner is Mary-Anne Mills who is a vegan living an organic lifestyle and she started this business as she couldn’t find vegan skincare which would also be chemical-free. I think she did a great job as her products have a minimal amount of ingredients with no nasties in them.

Citrus Zest variety pack

The pack I bought contained the following items:

  • Orange & Lime Body Scrub
  • Orange & Grapefruit Shower gel
  • Orange & Grapefruit Facial Scrub
  • Orange & Lime Solid Hand Lotion
  • Lemon & Lime Lip balm

I paid less than £30 for this, but since then new items have been added to the pack to include Orange & Lime soap and Orange & Lime body butter and now it’s costing £39.99 altogether. What I bought I thought it was a good value for money considering organic ingredients and hand made element to it. Once I received the package my first impressions were that all the items had a really lovely smell to them. Every product had a gorgeous smell and I couldn’t wait to try them all! Below you can read how I got on with every single one of them.

Orange & Lime Body Scrub

As I haven’t used a body scrub for a while I was keen on buying something I haven’t tried before and this looked like a good option with really simple ingredients: unrefined sea salt, organic extra virgin olive oil, organic orange oil and organic lime oil. What could it go wrong with these ingredients? Nothing, as I found out while scrubbing my body weekly in preparations for my holidays. I think salt works very well as a body scrub and it’s rough enough to remove all those dead skin cells. The oils work moisturising and at the end, skin feels really nice, smooth and soft. If you want to wow your partner, then you should definitely give this a try.

Orange & Grapefruit Shower gel

I was interested in trying this shower gel as I haven’t used a shower gel for a long time. I tend to avoid buying natural shower gels, as they are quite expensive and run out quickly and instead I use Faith in Nature Hemp Soap, which is very affordable and doesn’t dry out my skin. Anyhow, I just wanted to see how the shower gel from Heavenly Organics compares to the soap I normally use.

Ingredients:
Aqua (natural mineral water), Castile soap organic (Potassium oleate, Potassium cocoate, Glycerine, Citric acid), Extra Virgin Olea europaea (Olive) fruit oil organic, Xanthan gum, Citrus sinensis (Sweet orange) peel oil organic, Citrus paradisi (Grapefruit) peel oil organic, Citrus paradisi (Grapefruit) seed extract organic & Glycerine organic, Citral*, Geraniol*, Limonene*, Linalool*. *Occurring naturally in essential oils.

What I really loved about this product was this gorgeous smell and when washing myself with Orange & Grapefruit shower gel I felt I was being pampered. Unfortunately, it’s one of those shower gels which don’t foam up very well, so I ended up using a bit more than I should. However, some other more natural shower gels I tried in the past had the same problem, that’s why I ended up using Faith in Nature soap. At the end, I managed to make Heavenly Organics shower gel the way I wanted by adding Dr. Bronner’s castile soap to it. The lavender smell didn’t go that well with the original zesty smell, but it worked. Another great thing about Heavenly Organics shower gel was that it made my skin feel nicer and softer than the Faith in Nature soap, so it’s really not that bad!

Orange & Grapefruit Facial Scrub

This was one of the products I actually needed, as I was running out of my Jason face scrub and I wanted to try another brand.

Ingredients: Unrefined sea salt (Soil Association certified), organic extra virgin olive oil, organic orange essential oil (Citrus Sinensis), organic grapefruit essential oil (Citrus Paradisi).

Ingredients are very simple and almost the same as in body scrub, only that organic grapefruit oil is used instead of lime oil. As with all other Heavenly Organics products, I loved the smell but it seemed to have faded away which I think it’s because I left the jar open once by accident. It’s the right ‘roughness’ to ‘scrub’ my skin well, leaving it soft and smooth, but it does tingle a bit and at the end my skin is quite red. Not a surprising reaction to salt from my side, as I had the same problem in my childhood when enjoying swimming in the sea during which time I would get irritations on my face. I guess my combination breakout-prone skin is just a bit sensitive to salt and this could be the case with other types of skin as well. It’s just something to think about before buying any kind of salt scrub. The advice is to use this scrub in the evening and not in the morning. I tried this face scrub on my boyfriend and his oily skin seems to take the product well and the results are great of course.

Orange & Lime Solid Hand Lotion

I didn’t even know there was such a thing out there as a solid hand lotion. I was intrigued, that’s why I was really interested in trying this out.

Ingredients:

Organic Cocoa Butter(Theobroma Cacao), Organic Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii), Organic Orange Essential Oil (citrus sinensis), Organic Lime Essential Oil (citrus aurantifolia).

The ingredients are again very basic and simple, but the smell is lovely. To use it you just rub it on your hands and spread it out. The good thing is that you don’t need much and it could last a quite long time. I also liked the fact that it was quite small and it wouldn’t take too much space in a handbag. I’ve also used it as an emergency moisturiser on my elbows and other dry areas. Be careful though and only use it on really clean skin, as dirt and dust can easily get into this lotion just when it’s melting under the warmth of your skin.

Lemon & Lime Lip balm

The excuse I needed to buy this balm was simple – I didn’t have any lip balms at all as I lost them all!

Ingredients:

Organic cocoa butter (Theobroma Cacao),  organic shea butter (Butyrospermum Parkii), organic lemon essential oil (citrus limonum), organic lime essential oil (citrus aurantifolia).

I love how this lip balm melts into the lips, leaving them shiny as if I am wearing a lip gloss. You could actually almost wear it as a lip gloss indeed although the effect wouldn’t last for that long. It nicely moisturises lips, leaving them soft and nourished.

Conclusion

Heavenly Organics is a brand definitely worth a try if you want to buy 100% natural and organic products which are also vegan friendly. Do consider your skin type – some products might not be suitable for the most sensitive type of skin. If you are not sure ask. They do have some products available in travel sizes which you can buy as a part of their travel pack if you want to get a taste of a brand before committing yourself to a full version of a product. You can buy all these products directly on their website.

Have you heard of Heavenly Organics before and have you tried any of their products?
