Melvita Rose Extraordinary Water review

Melvita Rose Extraordinary water

I bought Melvita Rose Extraordinary Water as I was looking for a toner which would be nourishing and anti-ageing at the same time. The Melvita Rose Extraordinary Water was suggested to me by a shop assistant in Slovenia and after trying out a tester I decided to buy it. I’ve been using this for months now and here is a review of what I really thought about this product.

First of all, Melvita Rose Extraordinary Water is not really a toner, it is actually called a pre-moisturizer. It has thicker, gel-like consistency but it is thinner than a gel. My objective was to get something that would be rejuvenating and would help to tackle fine lines as I am not getting any younger!

Melvita Rose Extraordinary Water Ingredients

99% of ingredients are from natural origin (no parabens, mineral oils, etc.) and 46% of them are from organic farming – the product is actually certified organic (EcoCert, Cosmetique Bio).

The main ingredient of this ‘toner’ is Rosa Damascena Flower Water which acts anti-inflammatory and moisturising. It also helps to soothe and balance the skin and reduce the redness.

In this ‘water’ you will also find Rosa Damascena Flower Extract, which also helps to soothe irritated skin, and Rosa Canina Flower (different type of rose) Extract. It’s these ingredients that give this water a lovely floral scent.

Back of the bottle: Melvita extraordinary water

What’s added to Melvita Extraordinary Water that may prevent the effects of ageing is hyaluronic acid (naturally derived). If you haven’t heard of this acid before, hyaluronic acid is a natural component of your body’s connective tissue that maintains skin’s strength and elasticity

As we age, our bodies produce less hyaluronic acid, resulting in fine lines and a loss of skin tone (decrease in hyaluronic acid is just one of the reasons why we get fine lines). It is believed that using skincare products with hyaluronic acid helps us to keep our youthful looks for longer as hyaluronic acid ensures you retain moisture and elasticity in your skin.

Another moisturising ingredient you will find in Melvita Extraordinary Water is glycerin, a natural compound derived from vegetable oils.

According to Dermaxime, a manufacturer of anti-aging skin-care products, glycerin helps maintain the skin’s water balance on an intercellular level. In easier-to-understand language, glycerin in lotions or other skin care products can help prevent or combat dry skin. (Source)

An interesting anti-ageing ingredient I’ve never heard of before is Menyanthes trifoliata leaf extract, an extract of the dried leaves of the buckbean, Marsh clover. You can read about it here.

So these are the main ingredients which contribute towards your skin feeling softer and younger (hopefully!) after using this product. For a full list of ingredients, check this page.

Just to mention that this product is cruelty-free as Melvita is against animal testing as stated on their philosophy page.

The results

I’ve been using this hydrating water as a part of my night-time skincare routine, after cleansing. But I think I was expecting a bit too much out of the product. My normal skincare routine would normally consist of using a toner to remove the last traces of makeup and dirt, and this is what I was expecting Melvita Extraordinary Water to do. Yes, it does that, but if your intention is only to remove the last traces of makeup I would suggest you stick with normal natural toners, as this is not exactly a toner.

It’s recommended to use Melvita Extraordinary Water in the morning and in the evening, but I am now thinking to use it in the morning only, before applying my daytime moisturiser. It’s up to you really how you decide to use it but I imagine using it twice a day will benefit the skin more.

The product does leave my skin feeling nice and soft with a fresh scent but it’s hard to say how much it really rejuvenates my skin as I don’t have a face full of wrinkles just yet!

The purpose of using this product for me was to help me stay looking younger for longer and I believe this is what’s doing although I cannot see it. My skin feels really nice and hydrated after use and based on this I would be happy to recommend this product. I think it will especially benefit those with dry skin due to the ingredients it contains. Get it here >

Have you tried this rejuvenating water before or any other Melvita products? What did you think?

    1. It’s good to hear it’s on your wishlist! Once you get to try it I would be interested to know how you got on and what difference it makes to your skin.

  2. This sounds like a nice product with some useful ingredients. Sounds like it’s worth a try

  3. I love Melvita products! The ethos of the brand is just great. I think it was a cleanser I used to use all the time from them when I was first transitioning from bog standard commercial cosmetics to a fully natural approach.

    1. I haven’t tried that many Melvita products yet, but this Extraordinary Water seem to be ok. It’s good to hear their products suit you. I love their ethos too and I would love to try more of their products in the future.
