This is a 100% pure and certified organic rosehip oil which is extracted from rosehip seeds obtained from rosehips which grow on Rosa Canina bushes in Bulgaria. I’ve been testing Alteya Organics Rosehip Seed Oil for more than a month now and here is my honest review…

My review:

I first started using Alteya Organics Rosehip Seed Oil on the back of my left hand, where I have some skin discolouration and an old scar. That’s what I did with Trilogy Rosehip Oil as well so I wanted to see what difference (if any) Alteya Organics’ rosehip oil will make. Will it lighten the brown spots and how quickly?

Organic rosehip seed oil - dropper and colour

In the beginning, I was applying the oil quite irregularly and only once a day, sometimes I forgot to apply. Of course, that didn’t result in much difference. I was doing that for a few weeks and after that, I started to apply the oil on the back of my hand twice a day.

Initially, I could not see much difference. That didn’t surprise me. Rosehip oil doesn’t work so quickly and you have to be patient and persistent before you see any effects. I think it was after about 3 weeks when I actually saw some improvement. So yes, the oil did help to minimise the look of brown spots and at the same time, it also lightened the scar. But it felt like ages before I could see an improvement.

At some point, I started applying Alteya Organics Rosehip Seed Oil on my face as well and I would do that once a day, in the evening. Before I started with this regime, my face was covered with some spots and there were some old breakouts trying to heal.

I am really really happy with how my skin improved since I’ve been using Alteya Organics’ rosehip oil every day in the evening. It not only helped the existing breakouts to heal and get better but it also helped to keep my skin clear ever since. Honestly, since I’ve been applying this oil every day I haven’t had a single breakout. And it’s been around 3 weeks I think. For me, that really makes it worth trying, especially if you have a breakout-prone skin.

The oil worked its magic at night and in the morning I would wake up to a beautiful skin that felt soft and smooth and just amazing.

I am not sure whether it did anything to my fine lines but I am not too concerned about that because I know that you need to use it for quite some time before you will see any visible differences (I would say at least 6 weeks but you should persist for even longer if you can).

Alteya Organics Rosehip Oil vs Trilogy Rosehip Oil

The other rosehip oil that I’ve tried previously was Trilogy Rosehip Oil and I was really interested to see how they compare. What are the differences?

To start with, both oils are certified organic but Alteya Organics’s rosehip oil is certified by USDA while Trilogy’s rosehip oil is certified by BioGro, New Zealand’s leading organic certifier.

The colour of both oils is very similar, almost the same but the oil from Alteya Organics is slightly more orange but this is barely noticeable.

There is also a difference in how both oils feel on the skin. Rosehip oil from Alteya Organics feels a little bit oilier than the rosehip oil from Trilogy. So basically Trilogy Rosehip Oil is “drier”.

I was worried that because Alteya Organics Rosehip Oil felt more ‘oily’ this may give me breakouts but actually no, I had no issues with that.

Since Trilogy Rosehip Oil is not as oily, it’s quicker to absorb. Alteya Organics Rosehip Oil, on the other hand, takes a little bit longer to absorb but I don’t find this an issue at all. However, if you use rosehip oil in the morning and want to apply makeup on top (which you can, by the way), then you may want to choose the one that absorbs more quickly. For me, it doesn’t matter.

In terms of the scent, I preferred the one from Alteya Organics’ rosehip oil. It was more subtle and pleasant.

Both rosehip oils are of great quality and work very well to improve the condition of my skin so I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them both but if you prefer oil that is quicker to absorb, then go for Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil.
