Do you use pads, tampons and pantyliners a lot? What about baby wipes? Have you ever wondered how these are made and what they are made of? I did some research and discovered that conventional pantyliners are made of absorbent wood cellulose and layers of plastic (polyolefins). Tampons, on the other side, are made with either rayon (a synthetic fibre) or cotton or a mixture of both. They get bleached during the production process and this can leave behind trace levels of dioxin, a known carcinogen. But that’s not all, the cotton that is used in tampons comes with pesticide residue as well. Imagine inserting that into your vagina? Dioxins, pesticides and what else?
It’s been proven that tampons made of organic cotton are the safest and this is where Organyc comes in.
Organyc is a brand that uses 100% organic cotton and their products are also certified by the Soil Association. In their range, you will find organic tampons of different sizes, pantyliners, organic cotton make-up pads and even baby wipes and cotton buds.
I’ve been using a selection of Organyc cotton products in the past few months and now I can give you my full review and honest opinion about them.
Organyc Tampons – Regular + Super
The first to review are organic tampons in sizes ‘regular’ and ‘super’. The size of Organyc regular tampons is slightly bigger than the size of regular tampons from Natracare which is their competitor. I actually prefer a slightly bigger size, it just works better for me and my flow. Of course, if you want a bigger size you can always go for ‘super‘ tampons or ‘super plus‘ which Organyc also do. I never use ‘super plus’ tampons from any brands as I don’t need them but I do use ‘super’ tampons for days with a heavy flow.
In terms of quality, I found both sizes of Organyc tampons great, they work just as expected and it’s great to know that when you are using them you are not exposing your body to any harmful chemicals or irritants. There are no synthetic materials in them, no pesticides, just 100% pure cotton core.
Organyc Panty Liners
Organyc offers two types of panty liners for light flow – you can choose the ones which are folded and individually wrapped or the ones without the extra packaging. I like the ones which are individually wrapped as it just makes them easier to carry around. Yes, it is extra packaging but the wrapper is made of Mater-Bi®, a bio-polymer film derived from corn starch which is biodegradable and compostable. So, it’s a win-win.
I found Organyc panty liners really good, they absorb well and there is no leakage due to the protective bottom sheet also made from Mater-Bi®. As they are made from cotton, these panty liners are breathable and they don’t irritate the skin so they are really great for those who react to contact with plastic and synthetic materials.
Organyc also do panty liners for heavy flow, for those who just need a little bit more protection.
Organyc Cotton Pads
I use cotton pads all the time, with toner and to remove make-up. This is something I do every day so it’s really important for me to ensure that I use organic cotton pads, free from pesticides and other harmful chemicals.
I’ve tried a few different brands in the past and Organyc cotton pads compare well – they are well made and quite tough. They are not as thick as some other organic cotton pads that I’ve tried but this is not a problem for me, I prefer it that way actually as it means that make-up removers don’t get lost in the thickness of the cotton pad. So this product from Organyc also gets a thumbs-up from me.
Organyc Baby Wipes
I love having baby wipes on hand all the time. They are great for lots of different uses and no, I don’t use them on babies! They come really handy when I go hiking or cycling for the whole day. Great for cleaning your hands or for wiping sweat from your body so that you can feel more refreshed. These are also great for when you do a quick workout at home and you only need a bit of refreshment, not the whole shower. So yeah, many uses!
I found Organyc Baby Wipes excellent – they feel really tough and resistant and not like some other wipes which feel like they are going to fall apart really easily. They are not too wet, only sometimes I wish they would be slightly wetter but everybody has their own preferences.
The wipes contain organic extracts of chamomile and calendula and have a moisturising effect on the skin (due to glycerin). They also contain lactic acid which helps to stabilize the PH of the skin in order to avoid irritations. The whole formulation has been approved by ICEA (Ethical and Environmental Certification Institute). You won’t find any Alcohol, SLS or parabens in these organic baby wipes.
Organyc – the final verdict
Overall, I really enjoyed using Organyc products – they are of great quality and don’t cause any skin irritations. The products are certified by the Soil Association so you can rest assured you are getting a truly organic product. I am happy to recommend this brand to everybody who likes to go more natural when it comes to feminine care and cotton beauty products.
