Kefir is getting more popular in the UK because of its many health benefits. I remember when you couldn’t find kefir in supermarkets, but now you can, thanks to Biotiful Gut Health. This brand was started by Natasha Bowes, a former figure skater who knows how important good gut health is.
I usually buy kefir from Polish shops, but recently I decided to give Biotiful kefir a try. Here, I share my honest thoughts to help you decide if it’s something you might want to add to your shopping list.
What is Biotiful Kefir?
Biotiful Kefir is a fermented drink made in the UK from live kefir cultures, known for its tangy taste and mildly fizzy texture. Originally from Eastern Europe, kefir is prized for its health benefits.
Biotiful produces not just the original flavour but also varieties like strawberry, raspberry, and mango. They use traditional fermentation methods to create both dairy and oat-based kefir that are low in sugar, rich in protein, and include options made with organic British milk and certified by the Soil Association.
What are the Ingredients in Biotiful Kefir?
The ingredients in Biotiful Kefir drinks are very simple – all kefir drinks contain pasteurised cow’s milk fermented with live kefir cultures but the flavoured varieties also contain fruit purées, natural fruit extracts and natural flavours.
There is also lemon concentrate and stabiliser (pectin) in the flavoured varieties but all are free from artificial colours and preservatives. There is no added sugar in Biotiful Kefir.
Nutrition Spotlight
Biotiful Kefir is a highly nutritious drink, packed with various nutrients and probiotics. I’ve tried two flavours—Original and Raspberry—and here’s a detailed look at what each contains:
Component | Original (per 250ml) | Raspberry (per 250ml) |
---|---|---|
Calories | 148 | 159 |
Total Fat | 7.3g | 6.4g |
Saturated Fat | 5.3g | 4.6g |
Total Carbohydrates | 12g | 17g |
Sugars | 7g | 12g |
Protein | 8.8g | 8.3g |
Key Nutrients | Calcium, Vitamin B12, Phosphorus | Calcium, Vitamin B12, Phosphorus |
In summary, the Raspberry flavour of Biotiful Kefir has more calories (159) and sugars (12g) than the Original (148 calories, 7g sugars). This is because it includes fruit purées. The sugars aren’t added; they come naturally from the fruits.
Both kinds have a lot of protein (over 8g per serving) and are full of important nutrients like calcium and vitamin B12, making them both great for your health.
I really like that the brand doesn’t add any processed sugar to their products which is a big plus as the added sugar is everywhere. And just to clarify: the sugar you see in the Original Biotiful Kefir is natural, not added (comes from lactose, a naturally occurring sugar in milk).

Review
Here is how I got on with the two flavours I’ve tried: The Original and Raspberry:
Biotiful Kefir – The Original
I was pleasantly surprised by this kefir. Its taste was better than other kefir brands I’ve tried before. It’s slightly sour with a creamy texture, similar to yogurt but thinner, yet it has a tangy kick. Despite being unsweetened, I found it delicious and not too sour. Compared to the Polish kefir I normally drink, I would say it’s slightly milder. Overall, I really enjoyed it.
Biotiful Kefir – Raspberry
I was initially expecting this kefir to be sweet, but it’s only slightly sweet with no added sugar. The sweetness comes from raspberry puree and fruit extracts, making it a healthier alternative to other sweetened kefirs on the market.
I can just taste the raspberry and while I enjoyed this flavour I’m curious to try other flavours to see if they’re more flavoursome. If you prefer slightly sweet kefir, this is a good flavour to try, but I personally prefer plain kefir.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I really enjoyed both flavours of Biotiful kefir and would recommend them to anyone looking for a delicious and nutritious probiotic drink.
It’s a great alternative to sugary drinks and its high probiotic content means it can offer health benefits such as improved digestion, immunity boosting, and reduced inflammation.
It’s also lower in lactose than other dairy products, making it easier to digest for those with lactose intolerance.
I would definitely recommend giving Biotiful Kefir a try if you’re looking for a healthy and delicious probiotic drink!
